RICHARD BUCK is hoping for a five-star performance at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg this weekend.
The 26-year-old City of York Athletic Club runner, left, is part of Great Britain’s six-strong relay team that goes for gold in the 4x400 metres in the final event of the three-day competition on Sunday.
Buck has picked up European and international medals every year since a silver in the European indoors in Torino in 2009 and the six-time medallist wants to collect another.
“It is all about the championships,” he said. “I love going to them and I love watching them. It’s fantastic to be a part of it and the aim is to get a medal.
“That would make it five years in a row that I have picked up a medal and that would be nice.”
Buck was called up to the relay team for Sweden despite having to pull out of the final of the European trials at Sheffield and not being able to run at the British Grand Prix in Birmingham because of a hamstring niggle.
But he has declared himself fighting fit and said he was “really happy” to have still made the relay squad.
