An abandoned puppy suffering a rare condition which forced her to hobble around has made remarkable progress.
Six hundred people have contacted the Dogs Trust near Bramham to offer a new home to Wonky, a 12-week-old Staffordshire bull terrier, which was taken in by the charity after being found on the streets.
She is now bounding around on her newly straight legs, and able to stand and walk, thanks to trust staff doing physiotherapy with her 30 times a day for a week, straightening her legs manually to strengthen her muscles.
Staff say she is now able to do short walks, and are confident that with a good diet and continued physiotherapy, Wonky – now renamed Juliette – will make a good recovery.
Before the treatment her front feet bent inwards, leaving the cute puppy uncomfortably walking on her wrists because the tendons in her legs were too short, known as knuckling of the carpal joints.
Amanda Sands, trust manager, said: “With love and care her legs will continue to improve and she will get a new lease of life.”
