THE top-of-the-table clash in York Minor Football League under-15s division one ended in a 2-2 draw between Pocklington Predators and Poppleton Tigers.
The stalemate in East Yorkshire means leaders Poppleton still hold a onepoint advantage plus a game in hand on their rivals.
The Predators were depleted as they took on the unbeaten leaders for the first time this season but they contributed to a titanic battle.
Pock ’keeper Sam Flinton and Jamie Harvey combined to thwart an early Tigers raid, but the visitors still took a 1-0 lead into the break.
The hosts piled on the pressure and they drew level thanks to a Harvey penalty after a foul in the box.
Poppleton’s second goal appeared to have settled the game in the visitors’ favour, but Pock again fought back.
George Pilkington drove a wonderful ball through to the charging Danny Shaw, who beat the final defender and finished at the second attempt after his first effort was saved by the ’keeper.
