TOP scorer Joe Crosby netted four goals as York Schoolboys Under-11s kept up their 100 per cent league record with an 8-2 win at Scarborough.

The impressive haul from Crosby was backed by goals from Charlie King, Nick Hutton, Robbie Simpson and man of the match James Hanson.

The game was played on a tight pitch, which seemed to help York with their superior passing game.

Dan Allinson was always a threat from set pieces and two of the goals were created by his good approach play. King, meanwhile, was always a threat with his mazy runs.

York will today host title favourites Sheffield and the home side will be looking for an improved performance after losing to the South Yorkshire side in cup action earlier this season.

York U13s beat hosts Worksop & Retford 6-1.

The foundations for the victory were laid by the York defence, with David Barber and man of the match Zac Lawrence leading the way.

York went 1-0 up when Joe Kemp’s cross was dropped by the home ’keeper and Dan Davison reacted quickly to score from close range.

The home side were still creating opportunities, with York ’keeper Adam Precious making a vital double save to protect the lead.

York gained some breathing space with a second goal before half-time, a 30-yard low drive from Lawrence that found the corner of the net.

A shot from Charlie Marshall was saved early in the second half, but York went 3-0 up when a Max Tweddle cross was side-footed home first time by Marcus Haigh.

Worksop pulled a goal back but York conjured an quick response as Lawrence slotted home, and a Lawrence surge down the left produced a cross that allowed Tweddle to make it five.

The sixth and final goal came when a block tackle by Owen Marshall in the goalmouth forced the ball home.

There was also a big win for York U14s, who were 11-4 victors at Scarborough thanks to a hat-trick of hat-tricks.

George Brown opened the floodgates after ten minutes with an assured finish following Sam Drake’s driving run from midfield.

Brown quickly added a second before the home side replied after a long ball over the top.

Alex Wilson then rifled a low shot into the left corner and Louis Cade got his name on the scoresheet with an acrobatic right-foot volley.

Scarborough scored again when a deflected shot gave ’keeper Dave Howard no chance, but Brown completed a first-half treble with a cool finish from the penalty spot after John Carr had been tripped in the box.

The interval did nothing to stem the flow of goals as Wilson and Brown combined to create a goal for Drake.

Scarborough made it 6-3, but York then slipped into overdrive as Alex Wilson met Jamie Spaven’s excellent cross to head home before Cameron Herd joined in the fun, with Spaven again the provider.

Three more goals followed during this purple patch as Wilson and Herd both completed hat-tricks with clinical finishes.

Scarborough then completed the scoring in the closing minutes.

Herd, Wilson and Drake shared man of the match honours.
