A WARNING has been made against “freerunning” after a group of teenagers were arrested.
Police were contacted about a suspected attempted burglary at commercial premises in Queen Street, Bridlington, on Tuesday evening after four people were seen climbing on the outside of the building. But after arresting four boys aged 14, 16, and two aged 17, the teens were released without charge when they said they had been freerunning.
Det Sgt Tom Napier said: “While no offences were committed on this occasion, there are obvious risks attached to such activities and it is also very likely to be deemed as antisocial behaviour.
“There is also a risk of damage being caused to buildings which are being used for the freerunning which is clearly a criminal offence.
“I would strongly advise against taking part in this sort of activity.”
• Freerunning sees participants use gymnastics or acrobatic moves to climb and jump over everyday obstacles, buildings and street furniture.
