ONE of the best views in the country and one of the grandest houses in York could be yours – if you have £1.1 million to spare.
Fenton House – an eight-bedroomed town house in Precentor’s Court with a stunning view of York Minster – has already had a string of viewings since going on the market with York estate agent Savills.
A stone’s throw from the Minster, the property has views of the cathedral from numerous rooms and a panoramic view of the city from its private roof terrace.
Tanya Coffey, associate director of Savills in York, said: “It’s a lovely double-fronted property with a roof terrace from which you can see the Minster and watch the world go by.
“There’s only a handful of properties that have the Minster on their doorstep. It’s a unique jewel of a property.”
Fenton House dates back to about 1705 and has previously been home to ecclesiastical figures and for some time the chief constable of the Minster Police force.
The Grade II listed property has many original features, including beautiful overhead beams.
As well as having eight bedrooms, four with en-suite bathrooms, Fenton House also has a dining room, living room, drawing room, cloak room, cellar, garden and court-yard.
Fenton House is currently owned by Gail and Nick Williams, who own the Galtres Lodge Hotel in nearby Low Petergate. The couple have improved the property by putting in new bathrooms and by restoring and repairing the house.
