AS A resident of the area, I have been following the recent letters regarding Canon Lee School pupils' behaviour in the community. I agree wholeheartedly with the author of the original letter (Pupils swear and behave so badly, November 8).

If I had young children, I would not wish them to use the play area next to the library on Rawcliffe Lane at lunchtimes. The language from both boys and girls can be terrible and the deliberate dropping and kicking about of litter is unpleasant.

Thankfully, the litter has improved since you printed that first letter. The next day, at lunchtime, the play area was deserted. If speaking out has the desired effect, let's do more of it!

On the other hand, swearing and the dropping of litter are not serious crimes, just unpleasant. I am sure most of the culprits are hardworking and polite at school and home. I do hope so.
