Nicola Parker and Adam Cooper, who were married at St Andrews Church, Bishopthorpe, in October.
Photographer
Mike Nowill who we met at Yorkshire Living Brides wedding fair at York Racecourse. Not only were his photos stunning, but he was a really nice chap and great value, we now have a beautiful record of our day.
Where did you meet?
Adam and I met through a mutual friend who thought we would get on, so she set about planning to introduce us to each other.
What attracted you to him?
Initially it was his smile, closely followed by his sense of humour and caring nature.
Where did he propose?
He took me on a surprise trip to New York for Valentine’s Day. After romantic trips to the Met Opera, a visit to the Statue of Liberty, the Rockefeller Centre and a walk in the snow in Central Park – he asked me on 5th Avenue, just before we were about to head home.
The dress
La Detalle by La Sposa – a beautiful pale cream dress with a lace bodice and soft tulle skirt from the Bridal Rogue Gallery in York. In the evening I added a grey satin belt with a vintage brooch attached.
He wore
A navy blue suit, white shirt and grey silk tie and red and black striped socks.
Bridesmaids
My three godchildren were flower girls and page boy.
Flowers
Heaven Scent in Micklegate in York provided bouquets, buttonholes, corsages and flowers for the church and venue. We mainly used pale cream and pink roses.
Transport
An original 1950s Rolls Royce Silver Wraith supplied by Superior Motor Cars.
Reception
The Cedar Court Grand, York.
Table decor and Favours
The tables were set with white tablecloths and sprinkled with clear crystals. The grey theme colour was used for the chair sashes and the centre pieces were hurricane lamps surrounded by floral rings of pink and cream flowers. The favours for the ladies were small ceramic jewellery boxes with a silver heart on top filled with chocolates.
Entertainment
We had a DJ and the band were Funktion – who played a list of our favourites including Kings of Leon, Cee Lo Green and the bride’s favourite Dakota by The Stereophonics.
Honeymoon
A beautiful hotel near St Marks Square in Venice, followed by a trip a few weeks later to Antigua for Christmas.
