AN EAST Yorkshire school has been awarded Sports Leadership Academy status and praised as a “shining example” to others.
Goole High School is one of only a handful of organisations in the UK to gain the award for its efforts in encouraging students to gain volunteer leadership experience and providing the opportunities for them to do so.
Neil Poskitt, the teacher heading the programme, said it allowed youngsters to take the lead in sports coaching as well as literacy, maths, first aid, dance and foreign languages.
