THE residents and gipsies in Burn are against the proposed new site for gipsies and travellers.
Ignore the number of pitches – think of 59 vans in total and 180 people. We have no shop, school or amenities. Surely such a site should have access services.
Selby District Council has a duty to provide a site, but the word to note is district. In the whole of Selby district our council is unable to find suitable sites. Small sites are preferable and ours has been here almost 30 years with no problems, but surely this would not be the case if it were five times bigger.
Is this going to be Selby’s new Dale Farm? We want what is best for all concerned and include Selby district in this. Small is beautiful.
Kay Enion, Burn, Selby.
