THE new season of the Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League gets under way this weekend.
The running of the league, which is now sponsored by Paul Garland Ltd, has been taken over by a group from Fulford Tennis Club following the retirement of long-serving secretary Terry Haw.
Pauline Craddock, chair of the new committee, said: “Terry Haw had done a fantastic job of building up and running the league over the last 28 years.
“Many of us get a lot of pleasure from both the competitive and social elements of our matches.
“It seemed a daunting job for one person to take over, so we formed a committee to share the workload.”
The league now comprises 48 ladies teams competing over six divisions.
A major change implemented this season is that all the fixtures, results and tables can now be viewed by visiting the website at www.yorktennisleague.co.uk
