A CYCLIST has died in a collision in North Yorkshire.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was riding on the B6265 from Greenhow towards Pateley Bridge when his bike hit a tree in the incident at about 10.40am today.
As a result of the collision the man suffered serious injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics from the Great North Air Ambulance, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, a spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said.
The road was closed for over two hours after the crash.
Traffic Sergeant Claire Sawyer, of North Yorkshire Police's roads policing group, said: “If you were on the B6265 around the time of the collision, I urge you to come forward and contact the police as soon as possible.”
