A STALWART community worker has signed copies of his new book at a supermarket in York.
Eddie Benson, of Haxby, has collected thoughts and recollections from community workers and residents in the area dating back 80 years in his book, Every Picture Tells A Story.
Mr Benson, a former chairman of the Haxby and Wigginton Youth and Community Association, was awarded the MBE for services to the community. He retired as a trustee of the youth and community association in 2010, after working with young people for 57 years.
He said: “This was my second signing following one at the Co-Op the week before. I sold 25 copies then, and 28 this week.
“I’d like to thank Nathan Best who printed it for me, he did a super job, and Hazel Stevens who typed it all up and put up with all my intricate eccentricities.”
