WHY would anyone want to criticise Rory Bremner for possibly driving his very expensive modern Morgan sports car into footstreets during his visit to York for BBC1 (Letters, April 19)?
It was obvious the driving parts were spliced in to show the better scenic areas and bore no relation to where he was supposed to be going.
York received an excellent one-hour show in largely a light-hearted manner including the Minster, Bettys, the Golden Fleece, Shambles and Greys Court, with a funny explanation of Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate.
Filmed on sunny days, this programme must have given York a brilliant tourism boost, particularly the hilarious Yorkshire Belles Bus Tour.
Maybe we should forgive his slight indiscretion and thank him for the marvellous film we may all profit from. It should be released as a DVD by the tourist board.
