HEWORTH ARLC Under-15s picked up their third win in four games in Yorkshire Junior League division two as they beat Castleford Panthers 30-16.
Luke Adamson opened the scoring with a try and conversion and Harry Radcliffe then converted his own try to help the Villagers to a 12-10 half-time lead.
The Panthers scored first in the second half, but the hosts replied with tries from Jacob Sunderland, Jack Smith and Nick Surtees.
Leon Cowling and Devon Pagett put in some effective tackles against a team which never gave up, while Arran Naismith made good yards. Will Ireland was named man of the match.
Selby Warriors U15s went down 20-6 against Kippax Welfare in division three of the Yorkshire Junior League.
The Warriors trailed 20-0 at half-time, but got on the scoresheet when Dylan Tonks broke clear for a try and George Stoker converted.
Selby’s man of the match was Ben Copeland.
New Earswick All Blacks U12s bounced back to form with a 13-12 win at home to Eastmoor Dragons.
The York side trailed 8-0 at half-time, but struck back with tries from Davison, converted by Reece Ounsley, and man of the match Fin Osborne, converted by Goodall, either side of another Eastmoor score.
With the side level and time running out, Ounsley conjured a superb drop goal from 20 metres to take the oustanding contribution award.
Top tackler was Jack Byrne.
Heworth U11s nilled Hunslet Parkside thanks to another excellent display.
The top tackler award was given to the entire team for an excellent defensive effort – the best so far this season.
Harry Griffiths, Kian Oliver and Charlie Nicholson were the try scorers for Heworth.
New boy Jack Moore picked up the parents’ man of the match, while Nicholson picked up the magic moment.
Austin Cole was the man of the match and Oliver was the opposition’s man of the match.
Ben Barnard was great in defence, as was Niall Bowlby.
New Earswick U11s played a mixed Harehills team.
Magnus Fielding scored twice, while Taylor McDonough received the magic moment award for his brace of side-stepping tries and full-back Frank Strange crossed.
Centre Luke Prenty scored a hat-trick of tries and received the parents’ player of the match. He was also joint-top tackler with Ellena Powell, who also scored a try and was player of the match and oppositions’ player of the match.
Ben Kennedy and Harvey Turner shared the most improved player award.
Heworth U10s toppled previously unbeaten Shaw Cross Sharks.
The Villagers twice took the lead, only for Shaw Cross to draw level twice in the first half.
Try-scorers Will Spencer, Callam Rutland, Myles Harrison and Leon Mooring were the pick of a superb Heworth team performance.
