A WIDOW has raised £1,300 for the cancer charity that helped her cope with the financial paperwork after her partner’s death.
Rebecca Boldry, of Stockton-on-the-Forest, could not cope with the stress and worry of sorting out Trevor Green’s affairs when he died last May, two weeks after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Then she got in touch with a Macmillan Cancer Support financial guides, who guided her through the paperwork.
“There were times when I would be so upset and crying on the phone, but the Macmillan team were always so patient, and calmed me down and helped me through,” she said. “I didn’t know that Macmillan could help me.”
She organised a beef and beer night at the Monk Bar Hotel which raised £1,300 for the charity and was also a tribute to Mr Green, who was a chef.
“It was such a wonderful way to remember Trevor,” she said. “He loved to have people round to entertain and cook for them, and I know he would have been as thrilled as me with how well the night went. I’d like to thank everyone who helped to make the event a huge success, and especially to Graham at the Monk Bar Hotel who has been such a help to me.”
