A TREE was planted in York to commemorate both Holocaust Memorial Day and Workers Memorial Day.
Mark Serwotka, general secretary of the Public & Commercial Services Union (PCS), is pictured planting the weeping cherry tree in the grounds of Defra York.
Workers’ Memorial Day takes place tomorrow, the day when the International Labour Movement remembers those who have been killed or injured in workplace accidents and those who have died from occupational diseases. Holocaust Memorial Day is a national event dedicated to the remembrance of the victims of The Holocaust and subsequent holocausts worldwide.
