STREETS will come alive across York next month as a major showcase of talented buskers takes place.

Back for a second year, following the success of the 2012 launch, Buskival is York’s festival celebrating street performance.

Organisers hope the event on Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26, will be bigger and better, spilling out to 12 different busking pitches around the city centre.

The entertainment will star many of York’s well-known faces as well as up-and-coming buskers featuring every form of street entertainment.

The event is being organised by City of York Council and sponsored by HomeSense in Foss Islands Road.

Coun Sonja Crisp said “Over 50 different street performers will be taking part and will include a wide range of local, national and international buskers.

“It’s a great performance opportunity and a way of celebrating the skills and talents of the street performers who help enliven our vibrant city centre, and it’s terrific entertainment to draw even more people into town.”

The event will extend until 7pm on the Saturday enabling people to enjoy the festival for longer and allowing more buskers to take part.
