THE Press of April 26 reports that builders have won the homes battle at Germany Beck.
Surely this was a foregone conclusion and there is no going back.
This decision has now been rubber-stamped by councillors. The builders Persimmon Homes and Hogg the Builders must be rubbing their hands now that they can get on with it and start building these 655 homes.
What has City of York Council got out of this? Surely we are not going to be kept in the dark.
When the land was sold to build the Barbican Centre, quite a sum was apparently made by the Labour council, but we never saw where this profit went.
Yes, the land at Germany Beck will be drained, but it will not stop flooding. Who the devil will want to buy houses built on a flood plain?
Are the people who want to buy going to be informed concerning the problems caused by flooding in the area where houses are proposed to be built?
