Franklin speaking, there was a dream debut success in the inaugural Directors Cup at KP Golf.

Andy Franklin, playing off a handicap of 20, hit a fine nett 65, good enough to win not only division two but also claim his debut trophy success.

The victor pipped three players on 69 – Dave Pitchers, Martin Pridmore and Neil Bailey. Kevin Beattie carded the lowest gross score of 76.

Mark Gatenby, who was second in division one of the Directors Cup, was also runner-up alongside Graham Martin after they carded 42 points in the qualifying round of the International Pairs, a stableford competition off ¾ handicap with the winners going through to the Yorkshire finals at Oulton Hall GC.

The winners were Rich Daniells and Gareth Pudsey with 43 points.
