SIGHTS, sounds and fashions of a bygone age came to York Racecourse in a celebration of nostalgic style.

The Festival Of Vintage returned to the city over the weekend, boasting displays on how people used to live, including classic cars, textiles, clothing and cinema memories from the 1930s to 1960s.

The event included free workshops covering everything from how to learn classic dances like the Charleston to brushing up on crochet skills, and more than 120 vintage dealers from across the UK sold fashion, records, furniture and other items alongside craft stalls.

It was set to a backdrop of music from bands, cabaret acts and gramophone CDs, with vintage authors, clubs, magazines and experts all on hand to share their knowledge and £100 up for grabs each day to the best-dressed lover of vintage chic.

The festival was organised by Discover Vintage, founded by Keeley Harris in 2009, which now holds fairs and events across the country.
