A NORTH Yorkshire jockey was in police custody last night after he was arrested at Wolverhampton Races.
Graham Gibbons, formerly of Huntington, and now of Wetwang near Beverley, was wanted on warrant after he failed to attend Scarborough Magistrates Court in connection with an alleged drunken incident in Castlegate, Norton earlier this month.
He turned up at the race meeting after his name was included in the racecards published in yesterday’s morning papers. He won two races and took a fourth place before West Midlands Police arrived and arrested him on the racecourse.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed a 31-year-old man wanted for failure to attend court on a charge of being drunk and disorderly on April 8 had been arrested on their behalf and was in custody while enquiries continued.
