SELBY residents can have more say in how local services are run as part of a new council scheme.
Selby District Council has launched the Community Right To Challenge initiative as part of the Government’s Localism Act, and it hopes residents will tell the council how they would run services or do things differently.
Groups who believe they could run services in more efficiently or cheaply can call for a competetive exercise to be launched.
Coun Chris Metcalfe, executive member for communities, said: “This is a genuine opportunity to look at what we do, make sure we are delivering services in the best way possible and look at new opportunities for partnership working between the council and our community.”
