ONE of York’s most unusual visitor attractions is to open its doors after dark next month for a night of Cold War memories.
The York Cold War Bunker, in Holgate, will stage a special screening of German tragicomedy Goodbye Lenin! on May 18, alongside an introductory tour explaining how the bunker’s inhabitants would have lived in the event of a nuclear attack.
The attraction is run by English Heritage and was built in 1961, designed to house 60 people for 30 days if a Soviet strike was launched.
Tickets – priced £8 for English Heritage members and £10 for non-members – are available by phoning 01904 646940.
