THE planned closure of the Selby swing bridge, which was expected to cause further access problems for the town this summer, has been delayed.
The 160-year-old bridge was due to close from July 29, for up to six weeks, causing disruption to thousands of train passengers throughout the summer months.
Phil Verster, from Network Rail, said the closure had to be put back due to works taking place elsewhere in the region, particularly the site of a landslip at Hatfield Colliery, where the railway line was badly damaged during bad weather earlier this year.
Meanwhile, work continues on the £1.8 million roundabout to improve safety at the junction of the A19 and the A63, to create a three-lane roundabout at the Barlby and Osgodby junction. The road is expected to reopen at the end of May.
