TWO senior York councillors joined police officers on the beat for a seven-hour shift in the city centre.
Council leader James Alexander and cabinet member for crime and safer communities, Dafydd Williams, saw first-hand how officers dealt with night-time revellers, witnessing an arrest for suspected drink-driving and another for suspected domestic violence.
Their visit followed York’s second annual crime dummit, which looked at the impact of alcohol on crime and antisocial behaviour in York.
