COUNCIL waste teams will start collecting light card from homes in the Hambleton district over the next few weeks.
Leaflets outlining which materials can be included in new, larger recycling bags provided by Hambleton District Council are being delivered to residents.
The move will mean all paper and items such as cereal boxes and packaging for food and health and beauty products can be collected from the kerbside for the first time, although brown card cannot be taken.
The council says this expansion will mean recycling levels increasing by up to 425 tonnes.
Displays about what can go into the new bags are at leisure centres and council offices in the district, and anybody who has not received a new bag by May 31 should phone the council on 0845 1211 555.
