WE WOULD like to thank all the local community groups based in the Hull Road ward who came to last week’s meeting about Hull Road Park. It was fantastic to see so many local faces with a real passion and enthusiasm for the park.
Thank you, also, to City of York Council officers who gave a brief overview of plans and investment proposals for the park before the open discussion that took place on how the community could be involved. It was great to hear officers detailing how they intend to attain green flag status for the park.
The community groups who attended included (among others) the Heworth and Tang Hall Residents’ Association, Tang Hall Community Centre, St Nicholas Fields, St Lawrence and St Hilda Parish – as well as York Community Pride volunteer of the year, John Horsley.
With so many people interested in the future of Hull Road Park, we are delighted to be part of community action to protect the park.
Coun Neil Barnes and Coun Fiona Fitzpatrick, Labour, Hull Road ward, York.
