THE Bishop of Selby, the Right Reverend Martin Wallace, has announced he is to retire after a decade in the post.
A farewell service will be held at York Minster to celebrate Mr Wallace’s time in the position, which he moved to after serving in parishes in Sheffield, Surrey, London and Essex, as well as Archdeacon of Colchester.
Mr Wallace, who has written books on Celtic Spirituality, Christian Healing and local history, will retire on November 30, and move to Bridlington with his wife, Diana.
He said: “The past ten years in the Diocese of York have been an amazing time among the churches and local communities. It has been an enormous privilege seeing new people embrace the Christian faith, and new initiatives emerge to serve local people.”
