POLICE have sought to reassure residents in East Yorkshire after claims that teenage girls may have been approached by a driver.
Speculation on social networking sites and in communities around Pocklington claimed young men in a silver or grey hatchback car had approached youngsters, after a driver was reported to be acting suspiciously in Market Weighton and Wilberfoss.
Humberside Police said no teenagers were approached on either occasion, but local patrols were staying vigilant and checking the area around local schools. The Market Weighton incident was reported to the force on April 10, although it is believed to have happened ten days earlier, while reports were made to police of a similar car being Wilberfoss on Tuesday with its occupants acting suspiciously. Anybody with genuine concerns should phone police on 101.
