SEVERAL weeks ago on a sunny Sunday morning, my partner and I stopped on the side of the Harrogate/Leeds road and got out to admire the beautiful early spring view. After a lovely stay in Harrogate (jazz at Bettys included) we were due at my sister’s family in Leeds.
Gulping in fresh air and admiring muted country colours, we felt great. However, in the spirit of life’s challenges, our mood changed: when turning to leave we found the car well and truly bogged down in mud we hadn’t spotted.
The number of kind drivers who stopped to help and ask how we were before the RAC arrived was astonishing and heartwarming. One local man even returned to help haul us out of the mess (and all this, with an increasingly voluble and appreciative number of sheep arriving in the field next to us).
We would like to send our grateful thanks.
