CHILDREN and staff from Clifton School and Nursery, York, took part in a sponsored dog walk around St Peter’s School grounds on Wednesday to raise money for Guide Dogs UK.
Almost all the children from the school, aged between three and eight, took part in the walk with a group of parents and teachers. They were joined by guide dog puppy trainer David and his labrador puppy Nevis.
David Mackie, from the school, said: “We had lovely weather and a nice day for it.
“It went very well. Lots of people turned out with their dogs of all different shapes and sizes.”
The final amount of sponsorship raised has not yet been counted, but David said “it was a big success”.
A total of 200 children, 70 parents and about 50 dogs, including daschunds, labradors and weimaraners, took part in the one-mile walk, David said: “We are still collecting and counting the money raised, but we had a target of £1,200, which is looking very attainable.”
