YORK Schoolboys Under-11s finished the season three points behind title winners Hull after ending the campaign with a 4-1 win at Spen Valley.
Charlie King fired over a cross on 15 minutes and prolific scorer Joe Crosby side-footed home for the opening goal.
Within five minutes, King turned goalscorer with a fine strike from the edge of the penalty area that nestled in the top corner of the net.
Half-time was looming when York failed to make a clearance and Spen pulled one back.
After the break, Dominic Jackson was fouled but York saw the penalty saved.
Charlie Cresswell scored a third for York, quickly followed by a fourth from man-of-thematch Dan Allinson.
York U13s’ league season ended with a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Barnsley.
The home side led 1-0 at half-time and they moved 3-0 ahead before man-of-the-match Lawrence netted for York.
Barnsley then added a fourth goal.
York U14s closed out their campaign with a 3-1 win at Bradford.
The first half ended goalless but ten minutes after the restart the deadlock was finally broken when Alex Wilson’s snap shot beat the Bradford ’keeper at the near post.
A few minutes later, York were awarded a penalty following a clumsy challenge and George Brown confidently dispatched the spot kick.
Bradford pulled a goal back to set up a tense finale, but Brown then capped a man-of-thematch performance with a low strike from the edge of the box that flashed past the goalkeeper.
