COUNCILLORS have called for every home in York to be sent details of a 15-year development blueprint for the city when it goes out to public consultation in the coming weeks.
City of York Council’s draft Local Plan includes potential sites for 22,000 new homes, and Coun Carol Runciman, leader of the authority’s Liberal Democrat group, has written to its chief executive Kersten England asking for assurances that no resident will miss out on information.
Coun Runciman also said consultation documents should be approved by a cross-party committee to ensure they are “fair and balanced” and all information is made public.
She said: “No major area of York is left untouched by these plans, and the council has a duty to contact every household explaining the proposals and how residents can get involved in the consultation.”
