YOUNG cricketers at Easingwold School got some tips from the master during a visit by England’s most-capped Test player, Alec Stewart.
The former England captain was shown around the school by students Matthew Fisher and Lily Spencer-Brown. Matthew is a member of the Yorkshire Cricket Academy, while Lily plays cricket at North Yorkshire County level.
Alec visited several classrooms and spoke to some of the keen cricketers in the school about the required discipline and dedication to succeed in cricket and in life.
He then led a short coaching session on the forward defensive.
Alec said: “The students were excellent in the way they conducted themselves, and through their questioning and application showed how mature and talented they are.”
Before leaving, Alec, now an analyst on radio and TV, presented a signed cricket bat to head teacher Phil Benaiges.
