THERE has much been written about empty shops and I would like to add there is much office space as well. Surely it is better that these places are occupied than empty.
York is said to be a nice place to live and I feel much of this is down to history. The proposal to build on the battle of Fulford site is short-sighted when there are so many city-centre sites available. Once gone, it’s gone for good.
There has also been much written about Richard III. Most kings of England are buried in Westminster Abbey. He was born at Fotheringay Castle, Northants, but is of the House of York.
So, again another link to another period of history, which is again related to tourism and this needs to be as broad based as possible to keep York the number one destination in the north.
