I ONLY moved to York three months ago and many things are different from where I lived previously; most of them are much better.
However, the one thing I am puzzled by is the amount of clothing required to live here.
I ask this question because by the number of charity bags coming through my letterbox I would need a wardrobe the size a small hangar to keep up with the demands for my old clothes and shoes.
This week I must have received five such bags, with three in the past two days alone.
Most people cannot fill more than even a small percentage of these bags. So the charities involved appear to be wasting money by dishing out so many bags.
Perhaps they could get together and have joint collections or agree areas for each to “harvest” because I am at a loss as to how they are benefiting with the present volume of bags.
Incidentally, the bags don’t go to waste. I find various uses for them, but I don’t think that was the intention of the charities.
