A STUDENT at the University of York St John has been found dead in his halls of residence.
Andrew Fielding, 27, was a mature student in his first year of a history degree at the university.
He was found dead at The Grange halls in Ramsay Close, off Huntington Road, at 11.50am on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the university said: “We are extremely saddened by the tragic death of Andrew Fielding earlier this week. “Andrew was a lively, well-liked student who relished the opportunity to study history as a mature student. We would like to offer our heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends at this difficult time.”
North Yorkshire Police said there are no suspicious circumstances.
Friends of Mr Fielding, who is orginally from Lancashire, posted tributes to him on Facebook. One wrote: “You were a great lad, doing so well in life and at uni trying to better yourself. It’s so sad to read that you’ve passed away”.
