'Big Brother' contestants should expect a "summer of hell" this year.

The Channel 5 reality show - which will return to screens in June with a new set of housemates - will strip away the luxury seen in previous years and replace it with an eco-friendly house where contestants will have to grow their own food.

A spokesperson for the show said: "It's all about self-sufficiency and recycling. Although impressive in appearance, this house is not a hotel and provides a tougher environment than ever before."

Producers have also revealed the upcoming 14th series of the long-running show will have a 'secrets and lies' theme and housemates have been warned to "expect the unexpected".

A source told The Daily Star newspaper: "This won't be a walk in the park - they should expect a summer of hell."

As well as changes to the famous house, the main 'Big Brother' show will be presented by 'Big Brother's Bit on the Side' host Emma Willis, who has replaced Brian Dowling.

Emma will also continue to front the spin-off show alongside newcomers, 'Celebrity Big Brother' winner Rylan Clark and AJ Odudu.

Channel 5 will also introduce a new psychological 'Big Brother' spin-off, 'Big Brother's Bit on the Psych', which will see a panel of experts and psychologists analyse the behaviour of the housemates over the past seven days.
