A SENSORY garden will improve the lives of four young men in York.

The garden was the idea of charity support worker Dean Theaker after an appeal for materials in The Press.

Dean works for United Response, which helps people who have learning disabilities and autism.

Dean and his team turned an unused grassed area into a screened-off paved area, with a raised flower bed.

Dean said the garden, at the charity’s home in Huntington Road, has made a really big difference to men’s lives. He said now have somewhere to go to relax and enjoy the sensory sights, sounds and smells the garden has to offer. It also gives them something to do and learn while they are tending the plants.

The charity wishes to thanks the following for their donations towards creating the garden: The Harlequin Singers, Experia, D-Tail Plants, Jewsons, Hayes Construction, A-Plant, Noel Winteringham and the pupils from Huntington School, and Shire Aggregates.
