A DRIVER had to be cut free from his vehicle after a two car crash near Whitby at around 9.30am yesterday.
The man was at the wheel of a Honda car when it was in a collision with a Vauxhall van on the A171 north of Whitby.
Fire crews from Whitby, Lythe and Danby had to cut him out of his vehicle before the air ambulance took him to hospital with leg and shoulder injuries which were not thought to be life threatening, a fire service spokesman said.
The occupants of the van were not hurt, the spokesman added.
