A MAN in his sixties has died following a collision between two cars at Barlby near Selby.
The accident which closed the road for almost five hours happened just before 12.30pm today at the junction of the A19 and the A163 from North Duffield.
It involved a grey Peugeot 208 travelling onto the A19 from the A163, and a silver Vauxhall Zafira heading along the A19 towards Selby.
The man, who was from the Selby area and was a passenger in the Peugeot, was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary where he died this afternoon.
The Peugeot driver was uninjured but was taken to hospital to be checked.
The driver of the Zafira was uninjured but his three passengers were taken to York Hospital with minor injuries and were discharged later.
All drivers and passengers from both vehicles are from the Selby area.
The road was closed while the casualties were being treated by paramedics and to enable collision investigators to examine the scene.
The vehicles were recovered before the road reopened at around 5.15pm.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw either of the vehicles before the crash or who witnessed the collision to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
