Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins put in a special appearance at a memorial ride through North Yorkshire for a promising cyclist who died 15.

Almost 1,000 cyclists took part in yesterday’s ride from Lotherton Hall which passed through Church Fenton, Selby and Cawood in memory of Lewis Barry, from Garforth West Yorkshire who died of sudden arrhythmic death syndrome in 2010.

Sir Bradley flew in after diverting his helicopter en route to Wigan and spent time talking to people at the event which aimed to raise awareness of Lewis’s condition and to promote research.
