Tesco in York is holding a food donation drive to help York Foodbank stock up for Christmas.
Between Friday, November 29, and Sunday, December 1, customers at Tesco Extra in Tadcaster Road will be given a special shopping list to choose items of food to buy for the foodbank.
It is part of a national food collection at Tesco branches, and the donations will be given out by York Foodbank to people in crisis.
York Foodbank manager Caleb Ellwood said: “Winter is the hardest time of year for people living in poverty, and this Christmas is looking especially tough as fuel prices continue to rise. We’re delighted that Tesco are working with us and we hope that many people will donate a tin or two.”
Tesco will be topping up total donations by a further 30 per cent.
