FIREFIGHTERS picketed York’s fire station on New Year’s Eve as a bitter dispute over pensions continues into 2014.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union walked out between 6.30pm and 12.30am over changes to their pension arrangements.
The protest was staged at the Clifford Street fire station. Another strike, this time expected to last two hours, is due to take place tomorrow morning.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called out to seven incidents during the New Year’s Eve industrial action, including three bin fires, a small fire in a microwave oven, and a fire in an outside fridge unit at a hotel.
