A WOMAN who works at a North Yorkshire air base has been commended in the New Year’s Honours List.
Squadron Leader Angela Unsworth has been awarded an MBE for “outstanding and dedicated personal commitment to improving the services and support to all personnel and their families” at RAF Linton-on-Ouse over the last three years. She also played roles in providing a new home at the base for the Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron and supporting the Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s helicopter operation at nearby RAF Topcliffe.
Meanwhile, Stephen Firn, who was educated at Hempland Primary School and Archbishop Holgate’s School, and is now chief executive of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust London, received the OBE in recognition of his services to healthcare, particularly mental health.
