MAY I respond to Geoff Robb’s letter of January 1 by saying that during the recent review by the Boundaries Commission, the Conservatives recommended a reduction in the number of councillors in York.
Labour, trying to protect its majority, recommended leaving it at 47, which was accepted by the commission.
As for the “pompous Cabinet” as Mr Robb calls it (an understatement in my opinion), the Conservatives have argued for a reduction in its size since Labour came to power. How has James Alexander reacted to this? By increasing its size.
Still, Mr Robb and the citizens of York will get their chance to tell this “Cabinet” what they think next year, through the ballot box.
Coun George Barton, Conservative, Wheldrake, Deputy leader Conservative group City of York Council.
