A £90 MILLION shopping complex on the edge of York which will include a John Lewis store is taking shape as the clock ticks down towards its April opening.
The framework of the buildings at the Vangarde Shopping Park at Monks Cross, also housing Marks & Spencer and Next stores, has been under construction since last summer and work is now focusing on fitting out the shops.
Developers The Oakgate Group and Caddick Construction say the centre, which will have Giraffe, Frankie & Benny’s, Nando’s and Prezzo restaurants, is on schedule and due to open in time for Easter.
The development has provided £13.75 million towards a neighbouring community stadium for York City FC and York City Knights.
