A CONTROVERSIAL 40-home development near a North Yorkshire town should go ahead and will bring almost £150,000 of investment into the community, planners have said.
Hambleton District Council's planning committee has been recommended to approve proposals by Taylor Wimpey to build the homes at Carlton Miniott, near Thirsk, despite objections from the local parish council and 24 residents.
Previous plans were turned down because of concerns over the design and phasing of the scheme, but officials said the scheme would see Taylor Wimpey contribute about £148,000 towards “essential infrastructure” in the community.
Objectors say the area already has enough new housing and the Ripon Way scheme will see flood risks increase and trees being lost.
