CHILDREN in York are taking a trip back in time at York Castle Museum and experiencing life as one of the city’s most notorious characters.
The York Museums Trust has launched a new literacy workshop for schools which gives children a slice of life in an eighteenth century prison – just as Dick Turpin experienced it.
Pupils will be taken to visit the original cells where the infamous highwayman spent his days.
The workshop is one of a range the Trust is launching this year. Others include a dinosaur dig, an investigation into slime, and the chance to experience a Victorian classroom.
Learning manager Amy Baggaley said: “This academic year we have added some new and exciting ways for children to get the most our of our fantastic collections. We are sure that school children will be particularly interested in our new Slime! workshop, and enjoy experiencing a Victorian classroom.”
